Switching from Science Diet to By Nature Organic dog food, how do I get my dogs to eat it when they won’t?

They just sniff it and won’t eat it. I tried mixing it in with the remaining science diet food and they just spit out the new food. Will they eventually start eating it?

give them the sutff they have been getting but add some of the other little by little tell there is nothing but what you want them to eat
when animls get hungery they will eat weather they want to or not they will eat

Try mixing a little big of cooked ground chicken/beef and rice in it. (Just a little) I usually do this when my Peke is stubborn and won’t eat his food.

Here is how to switch foods:
“A new pet food should be gradually introduced to your animal by mixing it with their current food. For a nice, slow transition, replace the old food with the new in 10 perecent increments over the course of a 10-day period. It can take 4 to 6 weeks for a pet’s digestive tract to adjust to a new diet. If digestive upset occurs, pull back and transition more slowly.”

Hope that helped! & Good job for switching to a better quality food!

Try to mix it in with raw or cooked meat; chicken turkey etc etc etc. Or try it with water

mixing it little by little wont upset their stomachs which is good that you are doing that. Try putting some chicken broth or beef broth over the food its healthier than adding wet food they will eat it and like the other guy said they will eat when they get hungry trust me went through the same thing with my dog.

Getting dogs to eat a new food can be time consuming and too much all at once can cause diarhhea. Always start with mixing a VERY small amount at first, then every few days replace a little more. Sometimes you can reduce the total amount of food for a few feedings, which may make them seem hungry but will spur them to eat. – for a couple of days until they get used to the taste of the new food. HAVE PATIENCE. To do it right takes time but you can be successful and your dogs will love you just as much.

Keep on bringing back the same food. Eventually your dogs will eat the food. If they don’t for over 5 days, take them to the vet. Or, try another organic dog food brand. Good luck! :]
