I am going to get rid of my dry dog food because of what I was told on tv. Only thing is if I get rid of old dry food and buy or make organic dog food how will I give it to him at first. SO CONFUSED!

Not the kind with the rat poison in it.
Before you toss the dry, ask your vet for some recommendations. There may be nothing at all the matter with that dry dog food… some dogs don’t like some brands…. have a friend whose shepherds would NEVER touch Iams, but ate others just fine…. soooo, before you toss it, talk to a vet. Petco, and Petsmart, too have smart, informed people there to help you. Remember, dogs are omnivores just like people…. they aren’t wolves, and they don’t and shouldn’t eat raw, despite what some of these idiots will tell you
I have a 9 year old Chihuahua and I dont give him wet food ( per the vet). I give him Royal Canine ( not effected by the recall) dry food specific for his breed. Its a little more expensive but Predigree made him gain a lot of weight. I would see if you can get a sample of food from your Vet or from some pet stores. I changed his food by mixing the new with the old and see what he did. My dog is picky but took the transition fine.
Our five-year-old chihuahua has eaten hand cooked food since she was a puppy. Her meal consists of a combination of rice, meat (usually cooked steak, pork or chicken), and a veggie (broccoli, green beans and carrots are her favorite).
We make up a small amount of those three main ingredients in a bowl every night so she has dinner and lunch. We keep about five nights worth of soft-cooked rice and meat ready to cut up and add in a vegetable raw or steamed for a few seconds in the microwave. (we use frozen green beans(steamed in microwave), fresh broccoli(also steamed), and raw carrot (peeled then cut into small pieces))
She loves it and we know exactly what she eats, no guessing and probaly costs as much as organic hard or canned food.
Hope that helps!
Any kind of organic brand is better than what you were feeding her, do a search on google it should come up with a few. I know they carry some at Petco, introduce it slowly into her diet, adding little by little to her current food for a period of about 1-2 weeks. If you can supplement with things like raw egg, cottage cheese or plain yogurt.
